2. Why does Official Payments charge a service fee for payments?
The service fee covers the cost of processing the payment transaction. We provide technology systems that give you fast, easy and secure payment options for your taxes and bills, such as by internet, telephone and mobile app. Our systems also give you extra ways to pay, including by credit and debit card. Additionally, we provide bill management tools such as automatic recurring payments, e-mail reminders, and an e-wallet. To maintain these secure systems and services, we charge a fee. Because the service fee varies by payment method, please use our Fee Calculator to find the best payment method for you.
